Last weeks top ranked teams did nothing to harm their rankings going a perfect 7-0 on the week in preseason action. Of the five teams only Cardinal Newman did not play. The regular season is technically scheduled to start Monday, in a normal year that would mean tons of great games headed into the Thanksgiving break but as mentioned previously this is no normal year. The Thanksgiving week schedule will be light, yet still a couple of Top 5 teams will be in action. Here's a look Behind This Weeks #PBCHOOPS Top 5:

#1 Saint Andrew's

Saint Andrew's faced two elite programs to start the season at the Sunshine State Preseason Classic, Westminster Academy on Thursday and SIAA power Victory Rock on Friday. Both opponents were destined to the same fate, double digit losses at the hands of the Scots. Memphis signee Josh Minott was dominant, averaging 25 points per game including 33 points in the win over Victory Rock. Saint Andrew's has our vote as the #1 team in South Florida and could be the #1 team in the state of Florida when it's all said and done.

#2 Grandview Prep

While many people didn't know what to expect from Grandview Prep after wholesale changes from last season, I had a pretty good idea what was coming having coached several players from the core group with Team #PBCHOOPS during the fall. What was apparent then and showed on Friday night is a tough, gritty, defensive minded group that has shooters at every position. The Pride had a stiff test coming out the gate against a talented, tall and long Sagemont team. The game was close and went to OT before they pulled away to secure the victory. Grandview is a solid #2 at moment and will have several test in the coming weeks.

#3 Cardinal Newman

The Crusaders were off this week.

#4 King's Academy

Moral out west at The King's Academy is sky high after breaking into the #PBCHOOPS Top 5 for the first time in school history. The Lions didn't disappoint notching two victories at their preseason tip-off classic. The second victory coming over an emerging Highlands Christian team. Johnathan Joseph picked up where he left off last season as the leader of the squad. Running a close runner up is 6' 6" sophomore wing Zakiah Saez, Saez had a monster game against Highlands knocking down five 3 pointers and finishing with a team leading 22 points. Add to that solid games by the supporting squad including 6' 10" junior Logan Knight, King's will be a tough match-up for anyone on their schedule.

#5 Jupiter Christian

The Eagles headed a bit north to prepare for the regular season with two games at the Martin County preseason event and came back with two impressive victories over Treasure Coast teams. Double digit wins over Okeechobee and Fort Pierce Westwood have the Eagles ready for a nice test Tuesday night in Boca against Saint John Paul II.

Archbishop Carroll vs #1 Saint Andrew's

Class 3A in the South Florida is filled with highly competitive teams all looking to take down the reigning state champs. One such team coming from Miami is Archbishop Carroll. The Bulldogs made changes from top to bottom and are looking to be a contender in Region 4 - 3A. There will be tons of talent on both sides of this game.

# 5 Jupiter Christian vs Saint John Paul II

As mentioned Saint John Paul II is looking for a little respect. In the #PBCHOOPS Top 5 respect is earned, not given and no better way for the Eagles from Boca to get that respect than taking down a deep and talented #5 Jupiter Christian squad. Are they ready? We will find out Tuesday night.
